50,000 Kilometers, 50 Patients: Results of PDMSh Medical Transport Services

Just 3.5 months have passed since we launched our medical transport service, and we already have results we would like to share.

During this time, PDMSh medical teams have transported 50 patients and covered 50,690.8 kilometers across Ukraine. For comparison, the Earth’s equatorial circumference is approximately 40,075 kilometers. This means our vehicles have collectively traveled the equivalent of 1.26 trips around the world along the equator.

But these numbers represent much more than kilometers and routes. They represent 50 service members and veterans who, due to injuries, trauma, or medical conditions, required specialized medical transport and professional medical supervision during their journeys.

For some, it meant traveling from one hospital to another to continue treatment. For others, it was a journey to a rehabilitation center, where the next stage of recovery awaited them. And for some, it was the long-awaited journey home after treatment.

Our medical transport services have covered a significant part of Ukraine. Over these months, PDMSh vehicles have traveled to Kyiv and the Kyiv region, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Uzhhorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Pavlohrad, Truskavets, Pervomaisk, and many other cities and communities.

During every transport, patients are accompanied by a PDMSh medical professional — either a paramedic or a physician, depending on their medical condition. Medical support includes monitoring vital signs, continuously assessing the patient’s condition, and providing necessary medical assistance throughout the journey.

Medical transport is a separate area of PDMSh work that complements our frontline medical operations. After emergency care and stabilization, a wounded person’s journey toward recovery is often only beginning. At this stage, patients may still need professional assistance to safely reach their next treatment or rehabilitation facility.

We would like to remind everyone that PDMSh medical transport services are completely free of charge for Ukrainian service members and veterans.

The service is intended for individuals who, due to their medical condition, cannot safely travel using conventional transportation and require specialized vehicles and medical supervision.

If you or someone close to you needs medical transport, please contact our medical center. Our team will help determine whether specialized transportation is necessary, clarify the required documents and route, and arrange transportation whenever possible.

We save lives on the front line and help people reclaim their lives beyond it!
